I have decided that this year is going to be different. Instead of making a resolution that I just plain forget about by the time it comes to the month of March, I am going to make a resolution that I can actually stick to. Well, not one resolution actually - twelve.
I recently watched a TED talk about the Thirty Day Challenge. Essentially, researchers have discovered that it takes approximately thirty days to either make a habit or remove one from your life. The Thirty Day Challenge consists of adding something to your life every single day for thirty days. It can be a hobby you've always wanted to try, or a way you've always wanted to live your life, or maybe you have a habit you really just want to break. For so many years, there have been lists that I've made of things I want to do/take up/learn etc. But I haven't really put those things into action. That all changes as of January 1st, 2013
For every single month, I will be taking on a new Thirty Day Challenge. And this blog will make me sure that I stick to it.
So, here they are. My Twelve months of Resolutions...
JANUARY: Take a picture you're proud of a day.
FEBRUARY: Do something towards your career a day.
MARCH: No Facebook
APRIL: Give a gift a day.
MAY: Do something/speak to a stranger a day.
JUNE: Learn to play guitar.
JULY: Spend 30 minutes meditating/centering yourself.
AUGUST: Read something every day.
SEPTEMBER: Go completely vegan.
OCTOBER: Learn Italian.
NOVEMBER: Write a blog entry a day.
DECEMBER: Yet to be determined...
So here's to a year of self improvement. To a year of self discovery. To a wonderful 2013.
